Exactly 56.1 percent. of those surveyed decided that teleportation should remain permanent after the COVID-19 pandemic as an optional form of contact with healthcare workers. However, 36.9% were of the opposite opinion. respondents.

Teleportation yes, but not always

- Many patients tell us every day that teleportation can be very useful, for example, when it is only necessary to write a prescription from the patient’s doctor for medications that the patient is constantly taking, referrals or consultations on some issue that does not matter. require a physical examination. However, many patients have had a difficult experience during the pandemic, when this remote form of contact with the doctor proved to be and / or, in their opinion, insufficient. This group of patients fears that remote contact with a medical institution may adversely affect their health and well-being, explains Dr. Marta Kaluzna-Oleksi from the 1st Department of Cardiology of the Medical University in Poznań, representing the Organizing Committee of the 4th Forum of Heart Patients. And he adds that patients emphasize that each case must be considered individually. According to respondents, teleportation is very useful, but not from everything.

More than half of patients ask for the opinion of “Doctor Google”

Patients positively assessed their level of knowledge about cardiovascular diseases: “good” - 40.1%, “very good” - 7.6%. They named a cardiologist (74.5%) and a family doctor (51%) as their main personal source of knowledge in the field of cardiovascular diseases - more than one answer could be given here. Patients also tend to learn from other patients – almost every third respondent does this.

“What non-personal sources of information do you use to expand your knowledge about health and/or disease?” - to the question: “Google search engine and other websites” answered as much as 61.1 percent. Patients.

- Random websites are a very popular source of health and disease information. As part of the 4th Patient’s Heart Forum, we remind you to verify the accuracy and validity of the information you receive. Unfortunately, this is not always an easy task. Much of the content may be inaccurate, incomplete - sometimes it is enough to mislead the patient, cause unnecessary anxiety. At the same time, it is gratifying that as many as 63.7 percent. of patients indicated that they were looking for health information on scientific society websites. An important source of health information for the respondents turned out to be other patients, including organizations that unite and act for the benefit of patients, emphasizes Dr. Marta Kaluzhnaya-Oleksi.
