A bus with Ukrainian women and children returning from Turkey to their homeland overturned in Romania

Must read

At three o’clock in the morning in Romania, where Ukrainians are happily given asylum, a bus carrying refugees from Turkey to Ukraine overturned.

There were 43 people in the cabin: almost all women with children. The accident occurred in front of an intersection in the village of Garoafa - the center of the commune of the same name in Vrancea County. Fortunately, from there to the county center - the city of Focsani - only 10 kilometers, so help arrived on the spot in a few minutes. According to the mayor of the commune, Laurentiu Diaconu, the “red plan” was activated, in addition to 13 ambulances, firefighters, rescuers, and police arrived.

There are practically no fenders along the E85 highway in the village. Immediately behind the narrow roadside there is a concreted ditch, through which bridges are thrown to the houses of peasants and, at the site of the accident, a local monument. According to the Digi24 news channel, for some reason the driver lost control of the car and drove off the wheel into this ditch. Judging by the photo from the scene, the bus also hit the bridge to the monument and overturned, knocking down a sign in front of the intersection.

23 people, including 5 children, were taken to the county ambulance hospital in Focsani for examination. Fortunately, most of the injuries were minor: dislocations, bruises. One person has a spinal polytrauma. Several passengers were hospitalized. Most were temporarily housed in a refugee center, from where they were transported to the Ukrainian border.
