German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock assured that, if necessary, her country is ready to support Ukraine for years in the fight against the Russian invasion.
It is reported by Deutsche Welle with reference to Bild am Sonntag.
According to Burbock, this includes support through the supply of heavy weapons.
“Of course, I would like the war to end soon, but, unfortunately, we must proceed from the fact that Ukraine may need new heavy weapons from its friends next summer,” the German Foreign Minister said in an interview.
The Minister expressed her conviction that “Ukraine also protects our freedom, our peaceful order”
“And we support it with means and military means. As long as it’s necessary. Period,” stressed the head of the German Foreign Ministry.
Recall that earlier Annalena Burbock said that Germany should continue to supply military assistance to Ukraine to fight against the Russian Federation, because at the moment the end of the war cannot be achieved through negotiations.
As reported, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Ukraine will soon receive modern IRIS-T air defense systems and COBRA counter-battery combat radar.
Recall, on August 19, it was reported that Germany handed over to Ukraine three more Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, 11 M113 tracked armored personnel carriers and a thousand dry rations.
By the way, the Bundestag requires German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to hold a joint conference and report on what official Berlin is doing to help Kyiv. They said that Germany should take the lead in further assistance to Ukraine.
