- Zack Snyder Rebel Moon will be released in two parts on Netflix, with the first part now titled Rebel Moon Part 1: Child of Fire and part 2 titled Rebel Moon Part 2: Guardian.
- The story follows the protagonist Kore, played by Sofia Boutella, who seeks redemption by forming a group of warriors to oppose the brutal government of the Imperium and protect the moon Veldt.

The official date has been set for the second half. Zack Snyderspace opera long in development Rebel Moon and as promised by the director, the wait between parts won’t take long. When they arrive, both films will also appear on Netflix under new titles. Part 1, due out closer to Christmas this year, will now have its full title. Rebel Moon Part 1: Child of Fire. Part 2, now called Rebel Moon Part 2: Guardianwill be released next year on April 19, as announced by Snyder during Gamescom Opening Night Live.
Rebel Moon marketed as the Snyder version star Wars, originally based on a proposal he made to Lucasfilm a few years ago, for a darker and more mature take on the sci-fi giant. Primarily it follows Cora (Sofia Boutella) who seeks redemption for her past as a member of the Imperium, the army of the cruel and corrupt government of the Mother World. To protect the moon Veldt from the forces of the Imperium, led by the tyrannical regent Balisarius (Fra Free) and his trusted executor, Admiral Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein), she is looking for warriors from all the stars who are ready to oppose the brutal regime.
Opposite Boutella in the film is Djimon Hounsou who will play a former member of the Imperium in General Chitus, who helps Cora lead a ragtag group of warriors against the army. The rest of the cast is full of stars, including Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Huisman, Staz Nair, Dong Bae, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman, E. Duffy, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, and more. Snyder reunited with army of the dead co-author Shay Hatten And 300 co-author Kurt Johnstad write history. Hatten, for his part, is thrilled with the project, stating that it will “expand Snyder’s visual imagination to the fullest.”
Why Rebel Moon in two parts?
Snyder never intended Rebel Moon There will be two films first. It was originally planned to be one large-scale epic, which would introduce and flesh out numerous characters, and expand Kora’s narrative over a long period of time. Director Deborah SnyderHowever, he clarified that it was Netflix who wanted the shorter film, which prompted the director to instead direct two parts that better match the streamer’s desires. Even though it’s only two installments, Netflix will get four films as both installments will receive R-rated extended cuts, which the director recommends for those who want a “deeper and more complex dive” into this world he’s created.
