One of the things Marvel fans are most excited to see in Miracles This is Carol DanversBrie Larson) reunion with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). The meeting of two superpowered women has been a must since we realized that an adult Rambeau would be featured in the developing MCU, and even more so after she discovered her powers at the end of the MCU. During the interview, EP talked about how the Carol-Monica team has been working since 2019. Captain Marvel went into production. But since the first movie is set in the 90s, Marvel Studios thought it would be a good opportunity to lay the foundation for Monica and Carol’s relationship, which would then have complex ramifications as Monica grew up. The path they decided to take was to form a strong friendship with Monica’s mother Maria (played by Lashana Lynch) and bring Carol closer to young Monica (who was then played Akira Akbar):
“The idea that the paths of Monica Rambo and Carol Danvers will cross has been discussed for quite some time. It was discussed [when making] “Captain Marvel” if an adult friends relationship could be between Monica and Carol, but we ultimately decided [Monica’s mother] Maria, in order for Monica Rambo to grow up in the future, became her own hero and showed a reunion between Carol and Monica that could show how difficult estranged family relationships can sometimes be.”
Reunions, Skrulls, and Place Swap - Another Day in the MCU
Miracles will also add another complex layer for Carol and Monica’s reunion: the women and newcomer Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) will constantly change places due to the mysterious connection of their superpowers. So it’s safe to say that it will be difficult for them to have a decent conversation at least in some part of the film. When they are finally able to speak, Carol and Monica will have some serious catching up to do - Danvers has only returned to Earth a few times since the 90s and has never visited Monica.
Miracles directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman). She is also co-writing the screenplay with Megan McDonnell (WandaVision) And Elissa Karasik (Loki). The cast also has Samuel L. Jackson (Secret Invasion), Zave Ashton (The Handmaid’s Tale) And Park Seo Joon (Parasite).
