But, as we saw in the trailers for Season 3, Ciri is slowly evolving into a pretty capable fighter, including with the use of her own sword. ahead WitcherReturning to Netflix later this week, Collider had the opportunity to speak with several members of the show’s production team, as well as the stunt coordinator/second division director. Wolfgang Stegemann and gunsmith Nick Jeffries told us about what it takes to stage the impressive fights we see on screen. One scene early in season 3 where Geralt fights off a group of mercenaries looking for Ciri is intriguing camera work, as Stegemann revealed:

“We always approach these scenes to make them unique and special. As you rightly said, it’s all about the camera. How does the camera move in combat? becomes a different fighter. It seems to the viewers that this is a different person, but basically these are cameras living in combat. We wanted to show different variations of what combat might look like. It takes a good team, a good team and a great actor.”

Easter egg hidden in Ciri’s sword in The Witcher season 3

As for the weapons used in the series, there are a lot of factors to consider regarding who wields them - naturally, Ciri won’t be using the same sword as Geralt (though there are hints in Season 3 that she could actually prefer how his blade handles her own). As Jeffreys told us, Ciri’s sword in particular is not only meant to be used by someone the same size and height as Allan, but for a unique purpose that sets it apart from other weapons:

“You have to take into account the physical size of people. How big they are is obviously the main factor, and what they need to do with weapons and really pair them. If it was too heavy and unwieldy for someone shorter and smaller, it wouldn’t work as well. It’s also the first sword that [Ciri]he didn’t have a standard practice sword.”

However, there is an intriguing easter egg within the weapon itself, which Jeffreys also hinted at: “This is not the first time we have seen the bulk of the sword. He has a previous life which hopefully if anyone knows them Witcher, will work what it is. Then, once they figure out what it is, it makes a lot of sense.”

season 3 Witcher will be divided into two parts: volume 1 will premiere on Netflix on June 29, and volume 2 will appear on the streamer on July 27.
