Bye Stan Lee After leaving Marvel Comics in the 1990s, the comic book legend’s presence is felt in the industry even today. Having been reintroduced to a whole new generation of fans through cameo appearances in films based on the characters he helped create as Marvel’s cinematic efforts have taken the company to new heights, a new documentary celebrating Stan Lee’s life and legacy is due to be released. on Disney+ June 16. As the trailer for the film has now been released, fans will be able to learn more about the man who helped create the stories that have come to dominate contemporary popular culture.

After the announcement that he would have turned 100 years old, Stan Lee will document the career of one of the most prolific names in the comics industry. Born in 1922, Lee grew up during the Great Depression with little money but used what little he had to immerse himself in reading; he shares in the trailer, “I read everything I could get my hands on… and damn it, I felt like I could go anywhere.” That sense of escapism that Lee found in reading carried over into his work as he went to great lengths to create the Marvel Universe audiences know and love today.

Starting first as an assistant editor at Marvel in 1939, when the company was still known as Timely Comics, Lee rose to fame by co-creating characters such as the Fantastic Four, along with Jack Kirby, which took Marvel Comics to new levels of popularity. After that, Lee co-created characters such as the Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and the X-Men - all along with Kirby. He also conceived Daredevil with Bill Everettas well as working with Steve Ditko create Doctor Strange and, of course, Spider-Man. Through these characters, Lee helped shape a whole new shared world on the page, giving millions of people a place to escape to through reading, as he did in his youth.

New life for Lee

As Marvel has become even more popular with cinematic adaptations of its properties, Lee’s profile has also been given new life. Appearing in almost every movie based on Marvel properties, Lee’s cameos have become a staple. Lee has been featured in every Marvel Studios film up until Spider-Man: Far From Home, after his death in 2018, just a month before his 96th birthday. Prior to the MCU, Lee was also included in most films produced by Kevin Feige.

Upcoming documentary film being produced David Gelb, Brian McGinnAnd Jason Sterman, developed by Supper Club in association with Marvel Studios. Genius Brands International also serves as co-executive producer. Andy Haywardthe chairman and CEO of Genius Brands said they were “very excited to celebrate Stan Lee’s 100th birthday” with the announcement of the documentary, calling Lee a “cultural icon” and his story “captivating”.
