After taking the internet by storm with the first season of the Netflix hit Wednesdayseries star Jenna Ortega takes control and tries to implement some of her own ideas for season 2. She has been open in the past about what she would like from the series in the future, especially when it comes to introducing more horror elements to the show. However, as the producer of the second season, she can make it a reality. During a conversation with Elle Fanning on Variety actors about actors Ortega revealed that in the second season, the romantic subplots would be cut in favor of more scary moments.

1 season Wednesday saw the titular daughter of the Addams Family transferred to her parents’ alma mater at Nevermore Academy, where she doesn’t really fit in with her peers and instead focuses her efforts on solving a murder mystery looming over the city of Jericho. However, during her time at school, she falls into a love triangle between Tyler (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier (Percy Hynes White), which seemed out of place for a typically emotionally distant character and more appropriate for a typical teen drama. And with a character like Wednesday so beloved and so legendary, I don’t want to misunderstand her. So I try to have as many conversations as possible. On set, with the writers and Tim. [Burton], we all got together and decided: “Well, what works and what doesn’t?” It was naturally already very collaborative.”

Wednesday it likely won’t return for a second season until 2024, a prospect made even more uncertain by the ongoing writers’ strike.
