Return Doctor Who constantly gives fans of the legendary series new things to get excited about, and today is no exception. As long as the plot of upcoming episodes and seasons is safely stored in the space-time vortex, it has been confirmed that Bonnie Langford will return to the role of Mel Bush in the upcoming part of the story. Bush was a loyal companion of the Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) as the couple traveled to different planets and time periods trying to save people from all over the universe. And that’s not all, as Bush became one of the limited companions who managed to travel with two different versions of the Time Lord while having adventures with the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy), too much.

Regarding her return to the new era the show is about to enter, Langford stated, “I’m thrilled to have Melanie Bush back. To be part of an exceptional cast, crew and production team led by a force of nature that Russell T Davies is the pinnacle of a career. I’m so privileged and proud to be a member Doctor Who families since the classical era and being included in a new generation is phenomenal.” for her to come back again.

From time to time the main role in Doctor Who passed from one performer to another when a character gains a new body in a process called regeneration. When Jodie Whittaker was about to leave the role, Langford made a cameo appearance during her last episode, just moments before the Doctor regenerated again, and it was time for David Tennant become a time-traveling hero again. Tennant’s return would only be a foreshadowing of things to come, as one of his most famous companions, Donna Noble, said (Katherine Tate) will also be featured in an upcoming 60th Anniversary Special.

Who will be the next doctor?

It remains to be seen why the Doctor returned to a body that was left behind many iterations ago, but what is known as a certainty is that David Tennant will not be returning to the series permanently. Nkuti Gatwa will reside in the TARDIS for the next few years, as sex education will portray the hero after the 60th anniversary editions complete their story by the end of this year. If a few transitions prove difficult at the moment, rest assured that they will be explained as a plot point during upcoming releases.
