Director Amy Pascal confirmed that Spiderman 4 starring Tom Holland is indeed in development, but the project is currently on hold due to a writers’ strike. Speaking to Variety, Pascal also assured fans that once the strike is over, Sony intends to start writing the script for Holland’s next film as the web.

While Sony owns Spider-Man and all of the hero’s neighbor characters, the studio has signed an unprecedented deal with Disney and Marvel Studios to add the Friendly Neighbor to the MCU. With this deal, Holland got into shape for a highly successful solo trilogy and three crossover films. Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity WarAnd Avengers: Endgame. Of course, not everything went smoothly, and in 2019 the deal was almost done. However, thanks to Holland’s intervention, Disney and Sony agreed to continue their lucrative partnership.

However, for now Spiderman: No Way Home was a big box office hit, there is no new Spider-Man project in the MCU. In the meantime, produced by Marvel Studios Kevin Feige claims that the studio still has “big plans” for Spider-Man, we’d like to get official news as soon as possible. Fortunately, Spiderman 4 according to Pascal, definitely goes. When asked about Holland’s future as a web, Pascal immediately replied, “Are we going to make another movie? Of course we are.” Nevertheless, as Pascal emphasizes, “we are in the process, but the writers are on strike, no one is working during the strike. We all support, and when they come together, we will start.”

Spiderman 4 Not the only MCU project halted by writers’ strike

Bye Spiderman 4 apparently in early development when the writers’ strike broke out, the film joins other MCU projects on hold until the issue is resolved. A few days after the start of the writers’ strike, Marvel Studios announced it was putting it on pause. Bladestarring Mahershala Ali as the iconic vampire hunter. Marvel Studios suspended production last week. Thunderbolts, an upcoming ensemble film featuring several Marvel villains and anti-heroes. In addition, the studio has also suspended production on the film. Wonder Man series in which he is expected to star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the title character. Unfortunately, this is only the beginning, as more projects will have to go into the freezer if Hollywood studios don’t decide to fairly pay screenwriters for their hard work. And in the case of the MCU, Hollywood’s greed could do more harm than Thanos.

Still no release window for Spiderman 4. Luckily, Webslinger fans can watch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in theaters tomorrow, June 2.
