Before the final, Burdu had something to be proud of his guests. Don Cheadle, Megan Fox, Machine gun “Kelly”, Demi Lovato, Asher, Rachel McAdams, Emma Chamberlain, and many more, as it turned out, were part of Dave’s out-of-control tour. Then the ending broke out Brad Pitt And Drakeone of Hollywood’s biggest stars for years, breaking away from Babylon And High-speed train and a contemporary rap and R&B icon who is considered one of the most popular artists that ever lived. It might surprise neutral observers how big movie stars and rappers on top of the world take the time to appear in FXX’s little comedy, but Bird says the explanation is pretty simple: “They just love the show.”

“Look, people ask me, like, ‘How did you get all these people?’ And I really don’t feel like saying it, but… I don’t hate to say it, I’m honored to say it: they just love this show. I think that speaks to the greatness of the show, which it doesn’t take a lot of crazy maneuvering to get these people to do it. They’re all just independent of each other - Drake, Rachel McAdams, Brad Pitt - watch the show, they love the show, they watching all the episodes.I had run-ins with Drake and he is very positive about how big a fan he is of this show and that it is one of the most important shows of our generation. And Brad Pitt, I heard he liked it too.never since I haven’t dated him and I’ve accepted this knowledge of the fact that “Oh Brad loves this show” [and] I thought, “Maybe there’s a chance here.” I sent a very thoughtful email that took days to write and got a really cool email and he was in touch. Rachel McAdams, same deal; she watches the show with her husband and they love it.”

Behind this is the method DaveCameo Madness

One thing Bird wanted to make clear is that he didn’t choose his cameos just because he admires them or because he thinks they’ll be funny. There is a method he chooses for the series, from McAdams to Pitt to Drake. Dave tells the story of a white rapper seeking fame and fortune, struggling with his own emotional immaturity in the process and stumbling into bigger and bigger stages despite his flaws. Season 3 is a real “be careful what you wish for” season as he steps into the spotlight and walks away from some of the friends who helped him get there. Byrd felt the introduction of these big stars made sense as Dave has reached his peak so far and is looking at the top of the mountain:

“They’re not just random celebrities, ‘I want you in this because you’re cool!’ Each of them seems to represent the main themes that are at stake, as Rachel McAdams is like the dream woman of our generation. She has cemented some of the most important romantic films for my entire generation. Brad Pitt is the epitome of a movie star, Hollywood, I think he’s the biggest icon of our time as far as cinema is concerned, and Drake is obviously an icon of music and hip-hop. going, I feel like all these characters don’t just come in and say, “Hey.” They just represent the pinnacle of these major themed temples. When I work with Brad Pitt and I give him direction and I see him trust me the way he should, like Tarantino, or you know what I mean? As a director, it’s very rewarding for me as a director to get that kind of trust from these iconic pillars of entertainment, so it’s very rewarding to get them on board and also not to do anything crazy to get them on just to make a show that everyone really loves and respects.

Risks for Dave Became more than guest stars

as guests for Dave became more and more crazy, it got to the point that the writers were a little intimidated by Byrd’s promises. With every moment he got “yes”, as with the Boston Dynamics robot, the fears grew as the episodes were written with big celebrities like Pitt in mind without prior notice from them. “I took a lot of risks this season and a lot of people in my writers room were like, ‘Man, I hope you’re right, that these people will just say yes,’” he told Weintraub. “People thought I was really… even in the writers’ room they were like, ‘What are we doing writing this whole episode around Brad Pitt without even interacting with him? I just believed, and I was rewarded for my faith, and yes, it’s a chicken-and-egg thing.”

Music, however, worked a little differently. Like a real rapper, Bird’s work on music never stops, and he is always looking for what is suitable for the show among his material. So it was with the memorable verse “Mr. McAdams,” which he wrote about a favorite romantic movie he already had in the jar. It inevitably worked like magic when he was actually able to get McAdams for the season and use the verse more meaningfully than otherwise:

“In between seasons, I always work on music. Sometimes I write a song that wasn’t written for the show, but I just say, “Dude, this scene needs some good rap. romantic song” and sometimes I’m like, “Oh, this song I made a year ago can really work.” Obviously the verse I wrote when I wrote it without thinking about the TV show doesn’t work as well as if I rewrote the verse and made it about Robin, you know what I mean? more specific themes of the season. So it’s a complete chicken and egg and everything changes.”

The fact is that Dave it’s an enhanced semi-autobiographical series that fits perfectly with his career. Holding his nose to a musical whetstone, Bird finds use for music he creates that would otherwise not make it onto the album:

I’m lucky… In between seasons I’m working hard on the music, and often it’s not all about it, not in the sense that although my fans are clearly hungry for the album - and, of course, I wish I could to do and I’m working my hardest - there’s a happy reality in all of this that the show is about a rapper and I can take a lot of the music that I’ve made independent of the show and incorporate it organically into the show.”
