[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers through Yellowjackets, Season 2, Episode 8, “It Chooses.”]Thanks to yellow jackets Season 2, Episode 8, “It Chooses”, we finally know the meaning of the Queen of Hearts playing card.

With Lottie (Courtney Eaton) on the touchline after Shona (Sophie Nelisse) nearly beat her to death, another Yellowjacket seems to take charge of the rituals in an attempt to ensure the group is fed. While Marie (Alexa Barajas) insists that the desert won’t let Lottie die, Travis (Kevin Alves) quickly replies, “She may not want to, but if she’s starving, she won’t survive.” Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) indicates that the same is true for each of them, followed by Taissa (Jasmine Savoy Brown) states, “We need to find a way to stay alive, and it can’t be her.” So who is it? Who will replace Lottie and come up with a way to feed them all? It seems, Liv HewsonVan.

The next scene we see in the hut begins with the group standing in a circle with Van holding up the task cards. Plan? Deal cards until someone chooses the queen of hearts, and then that someone must be sacrificed so that the rest can eat. No, we don’t see a scene confirming that the “game” was Wang’s idea, but during Force Collider In an interview, Hewson noted that they had not yet seen the finished version of Episode 8, but said that they “sort of” think that Wang came up with this particular plan.

In the end, it is Natalie who draws the Queen of Hearts, but her sacrifice is deemed unnecessary when Javi (Luciano Leroux) drowns in an icy lake while escaping.

Though it may mean the end this In this extremely confusing card game, the stage can be loaded with clues to keep in mind for the future. We know what the Queen of Hearts means, but what about the other cards? Given the showrunners’ knack for insinuating the seemingly small details that matter, one might wonder if other maps matter as well?

During our interview, Hewson was unable to confirm if the other cards mattered, but said they weren’t drawn randomly. Each of them was scripted.

“Okay, I don’t know, but I’ll tell you, the cards we draw were scripted. And we asked that day, we said, “We have to decide in what order the cards [are in]? And they’re like, “No, no, no.” They made sure they were in order, so that every character would draw the same thing every time.”

Misty (Samantha Hanratty) begins with taking the eight tambourine. After this, AkilaNia Sondaya) draws the seven of clubs, and then Wang takes the jack of hearts. What does it mean? Hewson exclaimed, “I don’t know! I have no idea! However, they teased a little about what’s going on with Wang and what to expect in the season finale:

“I think there is a real corruption of beautiful things in it. I like her determination and passion for storytelling, as well as her concern for other people. It’s amazing what happens by the end of this season. It’s so interesting”.

As for the other cards drawn, Shauna picks a four of diamonds, Travis picks an ace of clubs, Taissa picks a six of clubs, Melissa (Jenna Burgess) draws a three of hearts, Xavi gets the King of Spades, and then Natalie ends the game by drawing a kill card.

What do they all mean? It seems unlikely that we’ll get full details on this in the Season 2 finale next week, but like almost everything in yellow jacketsI’m willing to bet that these cards have a point and the truth behind them will be slowly revealed next week and beyond.
