Costner is currently hard at work on his next big western project. Horizon which is planned as a saga that will potentially span four films. The actor recently took to social media to provide an update on the project, showing that the film’s production is going well.
Costner tweeted a photo of the director’s chair with the film’s title printed in bold. While the photo doesn’t give much of what to expect, it does tease the film’s western setting as it sits against a backdrop of mountainous and desert terrain. In the caption, Costner expresses great excitement about writing the draft; “We took a deep dive into the production of #HorizonFilm and I have to tell you, I haven’t felt anything like this since we filmed Dances with Wolves. Can’t wait to share this with all of you. ” Movie, Dances with Wolves referenced by the actor was his feature directorial debut, which was released in 1990 to critical acclaim, as well as being a hit at the box office. The Western won a whopping 7 Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director for Costner.
As well as Dances with Wolves, Horizon is yet another bold attempt by Costner to further cement his legacy in his beloved genre. It was a longtime passion project that was rejected by major studios, but Costner remains determined to bring it to life. In a recent interview with Deadline about his decision to self-fund the project, Costner said; “I mortgaged 10 acres on the water in Santa Barbara, where I was going to build my last home,” he added further: “But I did it without thinking. It drove my accountant to a goddamn fit. But this is my life and I believe in the idea and the story.”

What Horizon About whom and who plays the main role in the western?
For now, key plot details of the film remain under wraps, but it is known that the action will take place in America before and after the Civil War and will be told from the point of view of Native Americans. The film’s official IMDb page teases that Horizon “Chronicles of a Multifaceted 15-Year Period of Expansion and Settlement of the American West Before and After the Civil War.” Costner, in addition to starring and directing, wrote the screenplay in collaboration with John Baird.
Horizon boasts a large stellar cast including Costner. yellowstone colleague, Danny Huston, Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jamie Campbell Bower, Luke Wilson, Thomas Hayden Church, Michael Rooker, Jena Malone, Isabelle FuhrmanAnd Alejandro Edda, among many others. Costner’s teenage son will also appear in the film. Hayes Costner whom he teases will play his character’s namesake. While no release date has yet been set, the films that will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema, are scheduled to be released in quick succession at least three months apart.
