There are certain words that you associate with certain sounds. Two words that come to mind are Pink Panther. This cult music just came to your mind, didn’t it? Well, we’ll be hearing about it again soon with the news that a reboot from MGM, now owned by Amazon, based on classic ownership, is well under way and it almost has its star man too.
The Hollywood Reporter published the evening’s story, noting that Eddie Murphy is in talks to star in the film as Inspector Clouseau, a bumbling police officer whose unfortunate ability to trip over his own feet leads him to solve serious crimes. The cartoon panther also appeared in the opening credits of films, becoming their mascot - and a star in its own right, including its own animated series.
Sources note, according to the report, that the new feature-length project will feature a mixture of live action and CGI, bringing both traditions into one. The story is believed to be about an animated Pink Panther film crew breaking him out of an animated prison to help them with a real-world heist. The project is believed to be still under development.
Most recently, Murphy starred with Jonah Hill And Julia Louis-Dreyfus V you people for Netflix, quickly becoming one of the most watched debuts on Netflix in 2023. Prior to that, he reprized his iconic role as Prince Akim in the Prime Video series. Arrival 2 Americaand will soon play another famous role from his past in the Netflix series. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foleyin which he portrays the protagonist next to Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The eternal attraction of the Pink Panther
The series was created for MGM Blake Edwards, following the inept Clouseau as he stumbled from one crime to another. The role of Inspector Clouseau was created in the 1960s by an Academy Award nominee. Peter Sellersquickly becoming one of his signature roles, and a future remake saw Steve Martin step behind a magnifying glass. Pink Panther the series currently consists of 11 films, as well as countless series and specials.
There are currently no directors or screenwriters attached to the new film. Pink Panther movie, however Dan Lin, Julie Andrews and Larry Mirisch participate in the project as producers.
