Followed by success Batman: The Animated Series, Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett And Paul Dini created a new show for the man of steel. Superman: The Animated Series became the image of the generation of who is Superman (Tim Daly) and its relationship. Thanks to some crossovers with batman, this spawned further shows within the same continuity such as Batman of the future, static shock And Justice League.

With much of the same production team as batman, not surprisingly, many of these stories were of high quality. The show paid homage to Superman’s classic roots by modernizing the stories and wasn’t afraid to challenge its audience with dark imagery and bittersweet endings.

Jor-El and Lara send their son away from the dying Krypton.

No one takes his theories seriously, especially when Krypton’s supercomputer, Brainiac (Corey Burton) offers an alternative answer. As time runs out, Jor-El and his wife Lara (Finola Hughes) are doing everything they can to keep their son Kal-El alive.

It was a bold strategy to dedicate the first episode of the show to the destruction of Krypton, but Burnett and Dini handled it with aplomb. Twenty-two minutes later, the audience begins to care about Jor-El’s plight and cheer for his success, even though we know he’s doomed to fail. It conveys the gloomy tone of the world coming to an end, with a glimmer of hope that Kal-El survived.

This is Mr. Mxyzptlk (Gilbert Gottfried (ur., a being from the 5th dimension who wants to play games with Superman. Clarke can get rid of him by tricking him into saying his name backwards, but this only works for 90 days.

Thanks to Mxi’s god-like abilities, writers and animators could go crazy. There are many Funny melodies an inspirational farce to laugh at, and it’s great to see Superman outsmart his opponent instead of overpowering him. Add to that the iconic voice of Gottfried that you love to hate, and you have the perfect recipe for a memorable episode.

During one of their raids, Inspector Maggie Sawyer is injured (Joanna Cassidy), which puts her partner Dan Turpin (Joseph Bologna) on the warpath. Meanwhile, a mysterious hero named Orion (Steve Sandor) comes to Earth and warns Superman of Darkseid’s intentions.

“Apocalypse… Now!” is the culmination of two seasons of hints and build-ups of Darkseid’s plan. It establishes the threat of a coming invasion and shows glimpses of a larger conflict through the story of Orion, Apokolips and its sister planet, New Genesis. Darkseid’s evil is shown to the fullest, especially at the end, where he talks about the leader of the Intergang, Bruno Mannheim (Bruce Weitz) his promised reward.

She appears in the dystopian Metropolis with statues depicting Superman and Lex Luthor (Clancy Brown) as “the people who saved Metropolis”. After meeting with the underground resistance and receiving information from Jimmy Olsen (David Kaufman) that it all started when their Lois died in a car bombing.

Turning Superman into a dictator is not a new concept, but this episode explores it in an intriguing way. This is the story of how good intentions go awry as Superman cracks down on crime with a stronger fist than before at the cost of personal freedom. Luckily, Lois helps this Superman realize how low he has fallen and encourages him to build a better future.

While parts of this episode are rushed and poorly executed, it does a fantastic job of raising the stakes for the finale. It’s heartbreaking to see Superman’s goodwill shattered by Darkseid’s manipulation. It also gives Lex a chance to shine in a climax that focuses on the gods, reminding viewers of the danger of a man with ambition.

5 “The Best in the World: Parts 1-3”

Superman and Batman together

Meanwhile, Bruce WayneKevin Conroy) visits Metropolis to complete his partnership with Luthor and begins a relationship with Lois while pursuing the Joker as Batman. His methods earned Superman’s wrath, but they eventually team up to stop the Joker.

World’s Finest is an amazing team of DC’s top superheroes. The three-part story gives the story time to showcase the best of all its characters, from Batman and Superman to the Joker and Lex’s henchwoman, Harley Quinn.Arlene Sorkin) and Graves Graves (Lisa Edelstein). It’s a great combination of high-stakes action, tragic character drama, and beautiful interactions between some of the DCEU’s best actors.

4 “The Late Mr. Kent”

When he finds clues to clear Walker’s name, his car is blown up by a bomb. As Metropolis mourns Clark’s death, Lois teams up with Superman to find the killer and save Walker.

It’s surprising that The Late Mr. Kent was approved at all. It has some of the darkest and most subtle themes in any DCEU series, such as the flaws with the death penalty. While we all knew Superman would find a way to bring Clark back, the funeral scene is nonetheless touching and shows how one Kansas kid can affect so many people.

Superman heads to Gotham City to investigate reports of a sudden crime. He learns from RobinMatthew Valencia) that Batman has mysteriously disappeared and the rest of the Bat-Family are looking for clues. When a bat signal flashes in the sky, Superman puts on the hood until he and Robin find Batman.

There have been a few more crossovers between Batman and Superman since World’s Finest, but this one is the best. Superman dressing up as Batman is a great idea, as viewers will see him running into Batman’s rogues while trying to keep his cover. His chemistry with Robin is also great, especially when Robin gives him advice on how to be a more thoughtful and resilient dark knight.

2 “Apocalypse…Now!: Part 2”

After the explosion of the nuclear reactor, Darkseid launches a full invasion of Earth. As Orion went to warn New Genesis of the attack, Superman must stand alone against Apokolips’ armies. Luckily, Dan Turpin rallies the police to give the steel man an army of his own, but how can humans stand up to a god?

The themes of courage in the face of despair are in full force in this episode. Superman, Turpin, and the people of Metropolis lose hopelessly, but they don’t give up, demonstrating the power of human resistance to tyranny, no matter the cost. The ending is a Pyrrhic victory and ends with a touching tribute Jack Kirbywho created many of these characters.

1 “Legacy: Part 2”

Superman is kept in a room that reflects the effects of the red sun.

IMDb score 9.2/10

Although his memories are restored, the government holds Superman for questioning before Luthor convinces them to execute him. Luckily, Lois helps him and Supergirl escape, though Supergirl is injured in the process. With Earth’s trust in him shattered and his cousin close to death, Superman decides to take on Darkseid and end this once and for all.

This episode is much more dynamic than its first part and focuses on the wrath of Superman. Although he vents most of his forces on Darkseid in one of the series’ most vicious battles, he also forces his friend Dr. Hamilton (Victor Brandt) to help Supergirl, permanently destroying his trust in Superman. Darkseid excels here as well, as his actions ensure that defeating him will cost everything a man of steel holds dear.
