Star Trek: Strange New Worlds An incredible first season aired last summer, but since then there has been little news about the show’s second season. Knowing that the second season has already been filmed, fans want to know when they will see Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and once again the amazing crew of the USS Enterprise, and now Paramount has the answer: the crew will be back on the bridge on June 15, just in time for summer.
1 season Strange new worlds ended in a pretty cliffhanger when the captain’s girlfriend showed up to arrest Commander Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn), as they somehow discovered her illegitimate Illyrian origin. The season finale also featured the first appearance of a young Captain Kirk (Paul Wesley) in an alternate timeline explores a possible future in which Pike does not die in an accident. Earlier this year, when Wesley’s casting was announced, Paramount revealed that he had been cast in the show’s second season. Given that the time we meet this version of Kirk is almost ten years into the future, the circumstances of his return in Season 2 are likely to be interesting to say the least!
Besides Mount, Romaine and Wesley, Strange new worlds also stars Celia Rose Gooding like uhura, Jess Bush like Nurse Chapel, Melissa Navia as Lieutenant Ortegas, and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga. Last year it was announced that Carol Kane will join the cast in Season 2 as a smart engineer named Pelia, likely filling in the hole left by Bruce HorakHemmer. With these characters that are both new and classic at the same time, there are so many exciting possibilities that we can’t wait to see how relationships on the Enterprise continue to deepen and develop.
