Defender representing Jonathan Majors released a statement this afternoon saying the actor is “completely innocent” and “provably a victim” following his arrest by the NYPD on Saturday in Manhattan and charges of strangulation, assault and harassment that NYPD Yorka described as a “domestic dispute”.

Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and was probably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knew. We quickly collect and present evidence to the District Attorney, expecting all charges to be dropped immediately. All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is completely innocent and did not attack her in any way. Unfortunately, this incident happened because this woman was having an emotional crisis that caused her to be taken to the hospital yesterday. The NYPD is obligated to make an arrest in such situations, and that is the sole reason for arresting Mr. Major. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.
Chaudhry added that “the evidence includes video footage from the vehicle in which the episode occurred, testimonies from the driver and others who saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements by a woman retracting these allegations.”
The NYPD released a statement after the arrest with these details.
On Saturday, March 25, 2023 at approximately 11:14 a.m., police answered an emergency call from an apartment located within the 10th precinct. A preliminary investigation found that a 33-year-old man was involved in a domestic quarrel with a 30-year-old woman. The victim told police that she had been attacked. The police arrested the 33-year-old man without incident.
The police statement also notes that the victim, who has not been identified, “suffered minor head and neck injuries and was taken to the district hospital in stable condition.”
