Over the past decade, Letterboxd has quickly overtaken IMDb as a place for moviegoers to voice their opinions and rate the films they watch. Averaging the ratings of each to get a score out of 5.0, these average ratings are generally an accurate way to see how a film is perceived by the public. Thus, it became a good indicator of whether the film is worth watching.
Of course, everyone has different opinions, so one person’s 5-star masterpiece may be another’s 1-star train wreck. Generally, a GPA of 3.0 is considered a benchmark score on Letterboxd, with scores below that considered poor, or at least disappointing. However, not everyone agrees, as a recent Reddit thread requested films below this rating that are actually great, and responses included big-budget superhero movies, 90s slashers, and even children’s films.

Sandler has always been a controversy, but he has starred in some of the classic comedies of all time. Some would put water boy in this category and nairn_abed going so far as to call it a “masterpiece”. Although it is difficult to agree with this opinion, it is still a funny comedy with many quoted moments.
