Saturday night life didn’t rely too much on ghosts when he took Jenna Ortega came to Studio 8H, but we got one scary sketch, and then Ego Nvodim comes to save the day. A young girl (Ortega) is possessed and her parents (Chloe Fineman And Andrew Dismuks) don’t know what to do to stop it. They have a Catholic church there ready to help, but it won’t work without a priest. But the people in their house obviously need to sleep, and then their neighbor intervenes.
This is one of those sketches that is so outlandish but works because Nwodim really knows how to sell a character. Mrs Shaw is the upstairs neighbor who comes to see what’s going on when there’s a lot of noise late at night. When the family and another priest who is there tell her that they are trying to rid Ortega of a demon, she decides to take matters into her own hands. Which includes basically cursing the demon forcing him to do what he wants.
When the demon tries to levitate, she tells him to sit down. When the demon begins to act, she puts him in his place. And so, when it comes time to send the demon to another body, she calls on her husband (Kenan Thompson) and tells him that he must be the vessel so she can fall asleep again. And, frankly, the demon would probably listen to Nvodim and do whatever she asks of him. She is so powerful.
While the episode was great overall, it was also the last before the editors’ strike scheduled for April 1st. Editors Saturday night life have been fighting NBC for their contracts and their rights for quite some time now and in the last month they have increased their support but still NBC hasn’t moved so they went on strike to ask their questions. heard and answered. This sketch in particular showed us all one thing: if they want to redo exorcist but with Ortega in Linda Blair role, that would be pretty amazing. You just also need Nwodim to be ready to release the demons and house them in her husband.
