Here Lord of the Rings Fans, more stories from Middle-earth are on the horizon! Warner Bros Discovery and New Line Cinema have entered into a new multi-year agreement with Middle-Earth Enterprises Embracer Group AB to collaborate on new films in the franchise. President and CEO of WBD David Zaslav made the announcement during a company call to discuss its fourth-quarter 2022 earnings results, although the news came as no surprise given the new CEO has committed to bringing more franchises to the screen.

The studio teamed up with Jackson again to create a trilogy of films based on hobbit. Lord of the Rings The franchise takes fans to a mystical world J. R. R. Tolkien full of elves, hobbits and humans. The franchise itself has many layers of storytelling possibilities with many interesting characters and mythologies that keep viewers puzzled.
Lee Ginchard, CEO of Freemode Embracer Group Operations, said in a statement: “Following our recent acquisition of Middle-earth Enterprises, we are thrilled to begin this new journey together with New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures, opening up an incomparable world. J.R.R. Tolkien returns to the big screen in new and exciting ways.” He also added that the creators understand “how valuable these works are” and the studio’s plan is “to honor the past, look to the future, and uphold the highest levels of quality and production values.”
Tolkien’s universe of Middle-earth remains largely unexplored
Talking about the new collaboration of co-chairs and CEOs of Warner Bros Pictures Group Michael De Luca And Pam Abdi said: “Twenty years ago, New Line took an unprecedented leap of faith to bring the incredible stories, characters and world to life. Lord of the Rings on the big screen. The result is a landmark series of films that have been loved by generations of fans.” Further noting,
“But for all the scope and detail lovingly presented in the two trilogies, the vast, complex, and dazzling universe imagined by J. R. R. Tolkien remains largely unexplored in film. The opportunity to invite fans deeper into the cinematic world of Middle-earth is an honor.”
It should be noted that in a separate battle for TV rights in 2018, Amazon defeated Netflix for the real estate rights of Tolkien, publisher HarperCollins and New Line. Streamer committed to five seasons Lord of the Rings to a streaming service, resulting in The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. Meanwhile, Middle-earth Enterprises owns exclusive film, game, merchandising, stage and other rights to some of Tolkien’s literary works, including Lord of the Rings And hobbit.
