We’ve got no shortage of images, teasers and trailers for the upcoming third installment in the Ant-Man franchise. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania, and today the team is back at it with a brand new short film to the fore. The latest to come from the quantum realm centers around Marvel’s newest big villain, Kang the Conqueror. In execution Lovecraft Country And Devotion star Jonathan Majorsthe villain will be the first main evil player to Paul RuddAnt-Man, also known as Scott Lang, is facing himself, putting a possible catastrophic outcome on the scales.

President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige says there was no other person capable of playing the multi-layered Kang other than Major. Speaking about his character’s motivations and the themes in the film, Majors adds that the film focuses on “how time plays out in our relationships”, most notably “love, friendship, [and] heritage.” When we first got to know the character, we saw his mischievous take on the Disney+ and Marvel series. Loki. But as Rudd mentions in the short, Kang’s version of quantum mania “very different” - and we assume the worst. Confirming our suspicions, franchise star Michelle Pfeiffer says the storyline will feature “a side [Kang] who we haven’t really seen”, adding that “that’s his worst self”.

Things don’t look good for Scott Lang (Rudd) and the rest of the gang after being sucked into the Quantum Realm. Hope van Dyne, aka Wasp joined (Evangeline Lilly), her parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet van Dyne (Pfeiffer), as well as Lang’s daughter Cassie (Katherine Newton), the crew will go head-to-head with the latest MCU supervillain, Kang the Conqueror (The Majors). With all the power in his hands, Kang is going to make their journey one that they will definitely not forget and may not survive.

Based on what we’ve learned from the latest short and other leaked details about the film, this will be a major showdown between the Avenger and his enemy, as Kang has wiped out his fair share of superheroes in the past. And while Ant-Man has the Wasp along with the rest of their group, combined with his edgy wit, it might not be enough to take down the Conqueror. The first looks we’ve seen also tease a darker film and a journey into the multiverse, reminiscent of Spiderman: No Way Homeand we all know how it turned out for Peter Parker (Tom Holland).
