AMC kicked off 2023 with a good taste of the supernatural with a delightfully addictive series. Mayfair Witches Ann Ricesister show last year Anne Rice interview with a vampire. To keep teasing upcoming episodes of the new series, AMC shared an exclusive track with Collider that helps set the show’s tone. So now we can share with you The Witching Hour, the main theme of the series written by Will Bates.
The song is everything you expect from Mayfair Witches Ann Rice soundtrack and from thrillers in general. The Witching Hour is creepy and includes a chorus of haunting voices that seem to invite you into dark and mysterious worlds. We still have seven episodes to go through the first season and find out just how dark it can be, but if the first episode and this track are any indication, we’re in for a great ride - especially if that ride is like Interview with a Vampire.
In an official statement, Bates explained his approach to the main theme of the title as showrunner of the series. Estha Spaulding worked with him to give the track Mayfair feel, and defended the singer’s delightfully haunting vocal work Maya Manserwhich you hear on the track:
“While writing the script, Esta Spaulding and I talked about giving the Mayfair house its own anthropomorphic identity. the version called ‘The Witching Hour’ allowed me to showcase the vocals of the incredibly talented Maya Manser, whose voice resonates throughout the series and has become an integral part of the sound of the music.”
Will Bates is an award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist who has worked on a series of thrillers. He recently wrote music for Peacock’s. Lost Symbol and Netflix Devil in Ohio. Bates was also the composer for most of the Syfy episodes. Wizards. In film, Bates has composed soundtracks for well-known independent films such as Another land, Daniel Radcliffepolice thriller Imperiumand revealing documentary Getting Clean: Scientology and the Prison of Faith.
Mayfair witches developed for television by the company Estha Spaulding and Michelle Ashfordboth of whom developed and wrote the series for Showtime. Masters of sex. Spaulding spoke to Collider in an exclusive interview and revealed that witch consultants were brought in to make the series feel even more real. As the name suggests, Mayfair witches is another adaptation of a series of novels written by the late best-selling author Anne Rice. Even though the writer has created a sprawling dark universe of over 15 novels, Hollywood didn’t quite do justice to his 1994 novel. Interview with a Vampire and 2002 Queen of the Damned. The new installment of the AMC series is a chance to delve deeper into the universe and tell an ambitious story that, like Collider’s own story, Carly Lane it was emphasized special for TV.
