2023 will be another dominant year for the horror genre, with many iconic franchises seeing their scary comeback. It includes Evil Dead in the appropriate title The Evil Dead Rise. The film is due out in theaters in April, and marketing Climb starts to grow. The first trailer for the film will be released tomorrow, Wednesday, January 4th. To further fuel the blood-soaked anticipation, Warner Brothers offered fans Deadite Climbfirst poster.

The poster in question is a nightmarish family affair in which our new Deadite-obsessed protagonist Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) smiles creepily at the camera, hugging his children tightly. The slogan “Mom loves you to death” only adds to the horror of this image. There are still many dark mysteries surrounding the plot of this film, but the story centers around two estranged sisters, Ellie and Beth (Lily Sullivan), reunited after many years of separation. Ellie lives in a high-rise apartment building with her children in Los Angeles. Similar to 2013 Evil Dead after the reboot, this film will have family themes surrounding its horror. However, this is the first film in the series to feature many children in the story. This is sure to add even more horror to this already terrifying universe.

COLLIDER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Evil Dead is one of the rare favorite horror franchises that doesn’t have a bad record. With four films and a television series, it remains one of the most diverse franchises in terms of storytelling. Do you prefer the campy horror of the original, the horror-comedy atmosphere of its sequel, and Dark armyor a serious horror movie in 2013, Evil Dead has something to offer every horror lover. Of everything we’ve seen so far, Climb seems to be in the same tonal style as the 2013 reboot. Painful visuals, lighting and a sense of dread should delight any fan Evil Dead excited.

The Evil Dead Rise

How the Necronomicon will end up in the hands of the Los Angeles family is anyone’s guess, but the new setting could bring the dead to life in some exciting ways. For example, the series has never been in a populated area such as an apartment building before. Except Dark army, Evil Dead mostly stuck to hut-in-the-woods settings. As such, it will be interesting to see Deadites release to the masses. Of course, expect a lot of blood-soaked carnage.

The Evil Dead Rise will be released in theaters April 21, 2023, directed by Lee Cronin. While horror fans can’t wait to see the dead rise again, you can check out the new family-friendly poster below.
