Actor Daniel Craig is set to star in a new film based on William S. Burrow1985 novel, queer. Luca Guadagninomind behind Bones and allwill lead the project. According to Burrow queerwhich was originally written between 1951 and 1953 but was not published until several decades later, in 1985, Craig would likely play the story’s protagonist, William Lee.
Details on who will be joining Craig in the film are sparse, as rumor has it that the director is currently eyeing one of the External banks stars to play Allerton’s character. Further details of the project, such as the crew and distribution rights, also remain a mystery at this point, as Guadagnino was nominated for an Oscar for his directing work on the film. call me by your nameis currently in the process of raising funding for the film.
Prior to Guadagnino’s new project, other film adaptations of Burrow’s novel had been attempted. In 2011, Steve Buscemi the task was to make a film adaptation of the novel with Oren Moverman on board as a writer. Despite reading the script with Stanley Tucci as well as Ben Foster at the Sarasota Film Festival, the film was sidelined. An earlier adaptation of the novel featured the opera “Erling World”. queerUS premiere in 2001.
queer is a short novel dedicated to William Lee, telling the story of his life in Mexico City. Representing Burrow’s own life, the novella focuses on Lee’s awkward and shy part-time survival experience and the perks of G.I. Bill. While interacting with expat American students and bar owners, Lee pursues a young man named Allerton. Allerton’s character is believed to have been based on a retired Navy member and friend of Burrow’s, whom he met in Mexico City. queer considered a quasi-sequel to his earlier novel, junkie.
Both Craig and Guadagnino are currently working on other projects. Craig, who seeks to distance himself from his role as James Bond in several films. Connection films, will return to screens on December 23 as Benoit Blanc in Ryan JohnsonX Glass Bow: Mystery of Knives. In addition, the actor also recently appeared in Taika Waititi-directed advertising of Belvedere vodka. Guadagnino, on the other hand, recently completed his latest film, Applicantsstarring Zendaya. He currently has a romantic horror film Bones and all in cinemas, telling about two cannibals in love (Taylor Russell as Maren Godley and Timothy Chalamet like Lee), traveling around the country. According to Deadline, he is also currently working on Audrey Hepburn biopic Bye Rooney Mara attached to the Apple project, a scribe is still needed.
