Therapists in film and television, like doctors and other medical professionals, are often seen in stories as storytellers rather than as characters with their own thoughts, emotions, and desires. This is because this is how many ordinary people turn to their therapists or psychologists when patients turn to them for advice and answers to everything that bothers them. It is easy to forget that apart from their professional work of treating people with complex injuries and mental health problems, these healthcare professionals are people too, and even they may have their own opinions and biases that they keep to themselves when treating a patient. This raises two questions that may come to the mind of a person seeking therapy: what does this therapist really think, and what if he said what he really thinks?
These are the questions that the upcoming comedy series Decrease (2023) will try to answer. Made Forget Sarah Marshall (2008) writer and star Jason Segel as well as Ted Lasso (2020-) writers Bill Lawrence as well as Brett Goldstein, the ten-episode comedy series follows Siegel himself as a therapist who is currently going through a personal mental health challenge and trauma and has decided to give his patients a simpler approach to mental health care. Essentially, this means that Siegel’s character takes a page from Dr. Ben Sobel’s story (Billy Crystal) book from Analyze it (1999) and gave his patients his personal opinion instead of trying to use an objective, educational approach. It’s a bold strategy with a long list of pros and cons, and only time will tell if this new strategy will be a productive experiment or a devastating disaster.
With two legendary actors leading the series and three seasoned comedy writers at the helm. Decrease already sounds like an extremely promising series. To find out everything we know so far about Decreasejust read below to find out.

What is the plot of the cut?
Official plot synopsis Decrease reads like this:
The grieving therapist begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making a huge difference in people’s lives, including his own.
Siegel’s therapist has probably spent his entire professional career as a therapist telling people exactly what he was taught when he was in school studying psychology, and his rejection of these ideas will have very serious consequences. Positive outcomes may include being completely honest with your patients so that they see the world in their new lives, but being overly harsh on people with a potentially delicate state of mind can do more harm than good. While we don’t know all the details about Siegel’s character, most notably the name of the person, we do know that Harrison Ford’s character is also a doctor named Phil Rhodes, potentially a mentor to the protagonist Siegel, who isn’t as enamored with the new treatments he uses. trying to mourn the one he lost.
