2023 is billed as another killer horror year. So many iconic horror franchises are back this year, and next year is no different. One of the most notable franchises returning in an ominous fashion is Evil Dead in the appropriate title The Evil Dead Rise. The long-awaited film comes out in April, and now the producer Bruce Campbell shared a new image, teasing that this latest horror story is a family affair.
As part of Brucefest 2022, Campbell’s image is seen Lilly SullivanBeth in front of a group of people staring in horror at what appears to be her sister Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland). Ellie doesn’t seem to be at her best, as a disturbing shot shows her very up close and personal with the camera. All you can really see are her eyes, one of which is completely rolled up. It looks like the dead have taken full control. Campbell accompanied the terrifying image message“For the Deadites who weren’t able to make it to BruceFest this year, I’m very happy to share this family photo from The Evil Dead Rise. See them coming together or apart only in theaters on April 21st.”
Although we still don’t know much about Get upThe story will focus on two estranged sisters, Beth and Ellie, who are reunited after many years apart. Ellie lives in a high-rise apartment building in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, which already sets a very different tone for the series than the cabin-in-the-woods settings fans are accustomed to. After a series of unpleasant events, Beth and Ellie find the infamous Necronomicon, which soon takes Ellie’s soul. in the spirit Evil Dead (2013), this movie seems to have a heavy emotional connection to the family. The image shows the beginning of Ellie’s transformation, and if this is anything like past characters in the franchise like Mia, her family is in for one blood-soaked nightmare. What’s even worse is that Ellie has kids, which means there’s bound to be a lot of trauma in their future, with huge potential for some unique mind-blowing horror episodes.
Evil Dead it’s a rare franchise that didn’t have a bad record. Each of his films, apart from the successful television series, has never done the same stunt twice. One minute it’s a campy horror movie, the next second it’s a gothic slapstick comedy that then turns into a scary bloodbath. Seems to be, Get up would be more in line with pure horror Evil Dead (2013). This should please many horror fans, given the beloved nature of this film.
While we look forward to the first trailer and see if this family survives, you can stream Evil Dead 2013 on Hulu now. The Evil Dead Rise releases exclusively in theaters on April 21, 2023.
