A lot has changed for Scott LangPaul Rudd) since its first appearance in 2015 Ant-Man. A light comedy that had a big plot revolving around two tiny men fighting around Thomas the Tank Engine, then gave way to a 2019 film. Ant-Man and the Waspwhere the stakes were raised, but the building was still supposed to be carried around like a suitcase.
Ants with funny names, Baskin-Robbins always knows tricks - Ant-Man the series has always seemed like the shorty of the Marvel Cinematic Universe litter. Lang was a snooty outsider. Everything changed when at the climax Ant-Man and the WaspScott was locked in the quantum realm for five years and came out with the key to defeating Thanos and saving the entire universe in Avengers: Endgame.
At the Brazilian CCXP exhibition during a special panel for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum ManiaRudd revealed what has changed for Scott Lang since he took on the role of petty thief who was a Captain America fan many years ago.
“Of course, a lot has changed since the last film. First, we saved the universe. It hasn’t happened yet, so since the end Ant-Man and the Wasp. I think Scott is trying to figure out, “Where are we going in life now?” He is still very close with his daughter and is looking forward to the next chapter, and just like in life, the chapters are not what you expect them to be. So, a chain of events happens pretty quickly and we get into a pretty big story.”
Scott eventually proved his worth to the Avengers. His knowledge of the quantum world proved vital to defeating Thanos, but quantum mania sees him face a much more dangerous threat in Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), who confronts Lang in the Quantum Realm with a sinister threat. When Lang reveals that he is an Avenger, Kang replies “Are you an Avenger? Have I killed you before?” And this time, Scott doesn’t have the rest of the Avengers to back him up. Kang is confirmed to return in 2025. Avengers: Kang Dynastyand most likely in season 2 of the Disney+ series Lokiwhere he first appeared, there’s a chance that Scott won’t get a decisive victory over Kang, which begs the question: where will Ant-Man be when Kang is done with him?
