Hulu has officially announced the date when we will be able to tell Welcome to Chippendales. Formerly called Immigrantreal crime epic star limited series Kumail Nanjiani and explores the wild origins of a company of exotic male strippers and its Indian-born creator. Somen “Steve” Banerjee. Blending the fun side that Chippendales is known for with the darker and quirkier aspects of true crime that lurk in the background, the series is set to hit Hulu on November 22nd - exactly three months away. New episodes will air weekly after the premiere.
The series’ original title was a reference to Banerjee, the show’s central character, who became the unlikely owner of the largest male striptease empire in the world. Banerjee came from India in search of wealth in the US. After making some money at his Mobil gas station in Playa del Rey, he reinvested it in a seedy Hollywood bar in hopes of turning it into something special. He changed the name to the Chippendales and almost completely rebuilt the club, with the exception of a once-a-week men-only revue. By introducing shirtless dancers with cuffs and collars, Chippendales witnessed a meteoric rise in popularity, though not without controversy, ruthlessness, and an insane fall.
Along with Nanjiani, who just appeared in Obi-Wan KenobiAll stars are involved in the series, including White Lotus breakthrough star Murray Bartlett as Banerjee’s ruthless and charismatic business partner Nick De Noya beside Juliette Lewis as well as Annalee Ashford. It is planned that the series will also have many guest stars, consisting of regular guests. Quentin Pleir, Robin de Jesusas well as Andrew Rannells With Nicola Peltz Beckham as well as Dan Stevens.
Robert Siegel created Welcome to Chippendales as well as executive producer with Nanjiani and Dylan Sellers, Jenny Conner, Matt Shakman, Emily W. Gordon, Nora Silverand screenwriter Rajeev Joseph. Siegel recently created the hugely successful Hulu limited series. Pam and Tommy which received ten Emmy Award nominations. Joseph wrote Welcome to Chippendales with fellow writer Mehar Seti while Shakman is the director. Shakman took over Ramin Bahrani who was previously at the helm of the series.
With a release date of November 22, Welcome to Chippendales actually arrives earlier than expected. Everything indicated that the series would not arrive until 2023, but the premiere date now indicates that we may see footage from the limited series over the next few months.
