With production on the series already underway, fans of the popular book franchise can rejoice. Percy Jackson and the Olympians currently eyeing a Disney Plus release date in early 2024, according to a recent blog post Rick Riordanauthor of original novels.
Although the author did not give a specific release date, he did mention that it is still subject to change and the final decision rests with the studio and the streaming service. Along with announcing the release window, Riordan also provided some news about the series’ filming, which will likely run until around December or January.

The franchise was previously filmed in 2010. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief which was a moderate box office success but was criticized by fans for deviating from the source material. The movie will continue with one sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monstersbefore plans for the future were eventually cancelled. Now that Disney+ is preparing a new adaptation, Riordan is expressing confidence in the series and promising a great return after years of anticipation for fans. The author added:
“This show is the most ambitious project we’ve ever done, even for our seasoned and experienced crew. Huge amount of sets. Complex special effects. Young actors run the show. It all takes time. But the payoff will be worth it, I’m in it sure.
