Sarah Paulson She may have a few projects in the pipeline already, but the Emmy Award winner seems to be able to juggle even more with the latest announcement that she’s been cast as the lead in the Searchlight Picture thriller. Dust. Paulson will replace Claire Foy (Crown), who was originally cast in June 2020 but had to pull out of the project due to scheduling conflicts.

The Hulu-produced horror thriller centers on the character Paulson, described as “a young mother haunted by her past as she faces a menacing presence and takes emergency action to protect her family.” The dire situation faced by the as-yet-unnamed character Paulson is exacerbated by the fact that she was also trapped in a dangerous dust storm that swept through Oklahoma in the 1930s.

Dust adds to Paulson’s growing list of collaborations with Searchlight Pictures as she is also set to serve as an executive producer. She has previously starred in high-profile Searchlight projects including historical drama, 12 years of slaveryas well as Martha Marcy May Marlene. For their latest project, Searchlight executives, David Greenbaum as well as Matthew Greenfield expressed their excitement about working with Paulson again, saying in a joint statement, “Sarah is an outstanding artist and we are thrilled to be working with her again.”

Paulson showcased her experience in the horror genre with several roles in Ryan Murphy anthology horror television series, American Horror Story (AHS), where she portrayed versatile characters in all but one season of the hit FX series, which ran for 10 seasons and continues to count. Paulson’s success ASF brought her to work with Murphy on the FX channel. American Crime Story (ACS), where Paulson won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her role as a prosecutor. In addition to ASF as well as ACSPaulson is the host and executive producer of the ongoing psychological thriller, Ragged.
