Elon Musk with a different idea. xAI will “understand reality”

Must read

Elon Musk finally went ahead with his plan and founded his own AI company, succinctly named xAI. The billionaire is known for his distrust of artificial intelligence, but his new company has an ambitious plan - he wants to “know the reality.”

Elon Musk unceremoniously announced the founding of xAI, an artificial intelligence company. The world’s richest man is starting the race a little late and will have to face giants like Google and Microsoft.

Elon Musk founds xAI, an artificial intelligence company

“I announce the founding of xAI to understand reality,” Elon Musk cryptically tweeted. The tweet quickly went viral with over 25 million views.

Additional explanations of the cryptic announcement have already been dealt with directly by the responsible managers. This is, for example, Dan Hendrix, head of the AI Security Center, which is supposed to help Musk get started with a new AI company.

We also know that the billionaire has hired top industry experts to work with xAI. These are specialists who previously worked in the DeepMind Lab, OpenAI, or the cells of Google Research and Microsoft Research. Other people will come to the company from Twitter and Tesla.

What will xAI do?

It seems that xAI is about to become a competitor to large companies developing artificial intelligence in a certain way. These are companies like OpenAI, Google or Anthropic that are responsible for generative AI, including chatbots like ChatGPT, Bard AI or Claude.

But Elon Musk seems to be approaching the matter in a stepmother way. In April, he was supposed to buy thousands of Nvidia video cards, most likely they will be used to create a new LLM - a large language model. This is the basis of any chatbot.

At the same time, the rich man mentioned a plan a few months ago to create TruthGPT, a chatbot that would seek the truth. Whatever that means.
