Record export of food products from Poland. One led him

Must read

In 2022, Polish goods worth a total of 47.6 billion euros went to foreign markets, which means an increase of 27 percent. annually. Such a significant growth was facilitated by high food prices in the world and European markets.

Pekao SA bank analysts announced a new record for food exports. It turns out that last year Polish goods were sold on foreign markets for a total of 47.6 billion euros. Exports increased by 27 percent. annually.

Record food exports. what reasons?

This significant increase in 2022 was driven by high food prices in the global and European markets. This effect also worked earlier this year. In January and February, the value of sales from Poland was up 29 percent. annually. However, there was a slowdown in March (16%), which was significantly affected by the growing base of export prices, which last year, after the start of the war in Ukraine, began to grow this month.

– In the coming months, the effect of the high base from 2022 will become increasingly noticeable, reducing the dynamics of value growth – - emphasizes Grzegorz Rykaczewski, Pekao agricultural market analyst, whose words are quoted by Rzeczpospolita.

Weak zloty “helped”.

The success of Polish cuisine is also a consequence of the weakening of the zloty last year. However, in recent months, the Polish currency has begun to recover against the euro and the dollar. Pekao SA analysts predict that at the end of this year and next year “the Polish zloty will remain stronger than a year ago, both against the dollar and against the euro”, meaning that the price attractiveness of Polish goods abroad will be lower than last year.

According to the bank’s experts, this year we will feel the consequences of the economic slowdown in the EU countries under the influence of the war and the sharp rise in prices for many types of raw materials. Analysts predict a slowdown in economic growth and rising unemployment. The situation is expected to improve in 2024.
