There is work, but there are no people who want to do it, - entrepreneurs complain. Many companies have removed requirements for filling vacancies and hiring any employees. Already almost every fifth ad contains information that “experience is not required” and the employer guarantees a number of trainings. The set is going fast. Within two to three days after submitting a resume, employers sign contracts with candidates. - We are dealing with a slow demographic catastrophe, experts say.
Residential complex in the Warsaw district of Mokotov. Job advertisements are placed on the windows of shops and service points. Local entrepreneurs offer work in a pizzeria, ice cream shop, neighborhood cafe, cosmetics store or meat deli. Most of them are ready to hire immediately, employers do not make any demands.
Every employee is worth their weight in gold, employers say
“We are looking for people to work”, “We are ready to hire anyone”, “We will hire people without experience. We will learn everything at the training,” employers agree in numerous interviews with Wprost.pl. There are countless similar offers in neighboring areas. Companies are looking for people to work in various positions. The list is long, with offers for drivers, couriers, waiters, real estate consultants and merchants.
Most ads follow a similar layout, usually with a different company name and job title. “We are looking for people to work in our company stores as a salesperson/seller.” In addition to remuneration, entrepreneurs are guaranteed a full-time job, introductory training and flexible hours (working hours).
Just send your resume. Set is fast
Job offers without the required experience can also be found on popular advertising sites. Applicants can choose from ads. They will work in business service centers, customer service, marketing and sales departments. Looking through the offers on the Internet, we can easily find jobs in logistics and manufacturing companies, forklift operators or for simple office work.
Employers respond immediately to submitted resumes. Short, almost reduced to a minimum, also an interview. Recruiters are interested in when the candidate is ready to start working and for what salary he will agree to work.
In the past, companies were looking for experienced employees. Now they’re looking for anyone
Experts are increasingly paying attention to unusual job postings. - A few years ago, even offers to work on an assembly line or in a store often contained clear expectations. They mostly concerned professional experience, education or additional skills. - says Mateusz Zydek from the recruitment agency Randstad in an interview with Wprost.pl.
- Now the situation looks completely different. In some sectors, advertising does not contain any requirements or expectations from candidates. There are only statements that the employer will take care of the professional training of the employee. Such a selection process lasts a maximum of 2-3 days, because if the candidate’s interest is not supported, he will quickly find a job through the competition adds an expert.
The situation has changed dramatically. No people to work
In his opinion, the search for employees without experience is the result of huge changes in the labor market over the past decade and the dynamics of economic development in Poland.
- On the one hand, we are talking about the growing number of employers and jobs, and on the other hand, the already noticeable effect of the aging of the population. Even the economic downturn is not able to significantly change this trend - there is simply not enough staff in the market, and this shortage will only deepen. This can be seen, for example, in the record low unemployment rate and in a situation where the economy is slightly worse than in previous years. he points out.
There are more and more pensioners, and young people are living to working age.
Experts note that for several years, especially after the pandemic, we are faced with a situation where more employees retire every year than young people reach working age. In addition, there is a lack of competencies, i.e. lack of certain competencies, especially in demand by employers - digital or technical competencies.
- The shortage of qualified staff means not only an increase in the salaries offered for individual positions, but also a reduction in the requirements for positions requiring such qualifications. I would not expect that in their case, employers will completely abandon the requirements, but more often offers will be directed to less qualified candidates, while offering strong support in introducing and supplementing the necessary knowledge and competencies in training and mentoring. says Mateusz Zydek from Randstad.
This is the result of a slow demographic catastrophe
Dr. Marek Shopski, a sociologist at the University of Warsaw, speaks in a similar tone. - In Poland we are dealing with a slow demographic catastrophe - speaks. The percentage of people of retirement age is growing, and the share of women in the labor market is slightly above 50%, which is one of the lowest rates in the European Union.
In his opinion, the situation on the labor market would be much worse if it were not for the presence of Ukrainians, especially Ukrainian women. They are associated with occupations in certain professional groups, mainly services and works of an auxiliary nature and low social status.
– At the same time, in areas where it is necessary to demonstrate the relevant qualifications, knowledge of the language and citizenship, for example, teaching, medicine, administration and public positions, there is a growing shortage and aging of qualified personnel, since for the younger generation the job offer in the European Union is much more attractive, says Dr. Shopsky.
