The Australian government is cracking down on e-cigarettes. Vaping products must be pharmaceutically packaged and only sold as nicotine withdrawal products. The changes are due to the fact that vaping is becoming more and more popular among young people.

Australia is going to war with electronic cigarettes. Health Secretary Mark Butler said vaping has become a major behavioral problem in high schools and a growing problem in elementary schools. This is confirmed by studies, the results of which are given by Rzeczpospolita: it turns out that every sixth person aged 14-17 has tried vaping, and every fourth person in the age group 18-24 has such experience. people are drawn to colorful packaging and fruit or candy-flavored liquids, and in many cases, this ends in addiction.

Australia is cracking down on e-cigarettes. “Never ever…”

The Australian Health Minister notes that vaporizers are marketed as a therapeutic product to help people quit smoking. However, he noted that they were not marketed “as a recreational product - in particular, it was not intended for our children.”

- No more chewing gum flavors. No more pink unicorns. No more vaporizers deliberately disguised as colored markers that kids hide in their pencil cases. Butler said.

Rzeczpospolita recalls that Australia has been fighting the tobacco industry for several years. Already in 2012, the procedure for selling cigarettes in a single gray package was introduced. Since the beginning of May, the same applies to electronic cigarettes, even those that do not contain nicotine: products that contain it will need to be halved, vaping products will need to be packaged in pharmaceutical packaging and will only be sold as nicotine-free products.

UK is giving away free e-cigarettes

To combat nicotine addiction, the British government launched a special campaign in mid-April to encourage smokers to switch to e-cigarettes. To do this, free electronic cigarettes will be distributed to a million smokers, that is, one in five British nicotine addicts.

British Health Minister Neil O’Brien noted that there had never been such an action in the world. Two out of three smokers die from smoking. Cigarettes are the only commodity on sale that kills when used properly. said the head of the Ministry of Health, quoted by the BBC.
