Minister of Development and Technology Waldemar Buda gave an interview to the Rzeczpospolita newspaper. The conversation concerns, among other things, KPO. According to the politician, a decision on this issue will be made in early 2023. – In January, we start work on draft amendments to the law on the Supreme Court, which is a key condition for the launch of KPO. January will be decisive for the situation in Poland - Bud says.

KPO will be restarted?

When asked whether the KPO will be renewed, the head of the Ministry of Development emphasizes that the renewal of the KPO for individual countries is possible before the end of next year (the politician indicates that some countries - due to the war in Ukraine - have difficulties in fulfilling their obligations), but, as he says, “I wouldn’t start with this, just approve our KPO and start the first payments.” Then, as Buda points out, we can discuss in parallel whether any investments or reforms are worth changing.

When asked if he has anything to complain about in the context of the KPO acceptance problem, Buda replies: - I was given the task of approving the KPO and on June 1 I completed this process - my task was completed.

- We led to great success when Ursula von der Leyen approved our KPO. Later, I also worked on the presidential bill, which, unfortunately, was slightly changed at the last stage. Now the EC is considering the issue of paying funds to Poland, taking into account political arguments, which is not clear - adds the Minister of Development and Technology.
