On Thursday, December 22, the European Commission approved a program to support Polish companies operating in the gas market. This is part of the government shield.
The program to support Polish companies operating in the gas market was approved on Thursday, December 22, by the European Commission. According to the calculations of the Polish government, the protection program, which should partially replace the anti-inflationary protection, costs 3 billion euros, that is, almost 14 billion zlotys.
Support will be available to small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as large companies operating on the Polish gas market. This mainly concerns sellers and companies obliged to trade gas on the exchange market. The support that enterprises will be able to apply for is loans provided by the Bank of Dominance of the Home Region.
Energy Intensive Enterprise Support Program
This is the second program of this type approved by the European Commission in recent days. On 20 December, it decided that the subsidy program for energy-intensive companies reported by Poland was necessary, appropriate and proportionate, taking into account the need to address serious disruptions in the Member State’s economy. Its cost is 1.1 billion euros (PLN 5.1 billion).
“Energy-intensive companies, especially those operating in the sectors hardest hit by the current crisis, are currently struggling with very high energy costs. The EUR 1.1 billion scheme approved today will allow Poland to cover at least part of these significant costs, allowing businesses to continue operating in these difficult conditions,” said Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice President in charge of competition policy, quoted in the press -release.
