“We are currently focused on finding savings, so it has been decided that this year Warsaw will not be organizing an open-air concert,” said Wojciech Smiech, Deputy Director of City Marketing at the Warsaw Capital City Hall. in an interview with Presserwis. Warsaw.

In recent years, New Year’s concerts organized in Warsaw have been broadcast on TVN. This time, the City Hall will not promote the event, which, in addition to its entertainment value, was seen as a marketing and promotional tool for Warsaw.

- The increase in electricity costs next year will exceed PLN 500 million. At the same time, the rulers are constantly reducing Warsaw’s income from personal income tax - we are talking about billions of zlotys. We are currently focused on finding savings, so it was decided that this year Warsaw will not organize an open-air concert, said Wojciech Smich, deputy director of the city’s marketing department at the mayor’s office of the capital city. Warsaw. Warsaw.

TVN has not yet said if it will look for another local government with which it will organize the concert.

Cities have to look for ways to save money

Warsaw’s decision is not surprising, given that local governments must look for funds to save money. The most natural step seems to be limiting street lighting. Krosno turned off lights throughout the city from midnight to 4:00 am. The city was completely dark. It is likely that other cities will follow in the footsteps of Krosno. Residents can hope that the authorities will choose a half-hearted solution, that is, they will turn off only every second or third lighthouse. Other cities, such as Poznań or Bydgoszcz, have decided to cancel tenders for energy supply because proposals exceed the budget for this goal by many times. Some cities are also considering reducing the frequency of public transport and lowering the temperature in vehicles. It may also be necessary to introduce maximum temperatures in municipalities.

In the coming months, we will not see the illumination of monuments, perhaps this will be the first year without Christmas illumination.
