You can now order the top version of the roadster with a star at Polish Mercedes showrooms. The new Mercedes-AMG SL 63 SE Performance is equipped with a plug-in hybrid drive, delivering a system output of 816 hp. and torque 1420 Nm.
The SL 63 SE Performance variant completes the SL series. The 4.0-liter AMG V8 biturbo engine and the electric drive together produce a system output of 816 hp. and a maximum system torque of up to 1,420 Nm, making the new variant the most powerful SL ever. The characteristics of the car are as follows: acceleration to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 317 km/h.
The 4.0-litre AMG V8 biturbo engine at the front axle of the new SL 63 SE Performance is combined with an electric drive at the rear axle. The unit located there combines a 204 hp permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, an electrically switchable two-speed gearbox and a mechanical limited-slip differential on the rear axle.
At the back, above the axle, there is also a lightweight battery. This compact design offers many advantages. The electric motor drives directly to the rear wheels and can therefore directly convert power into thrust, providing additional acceleration when starting, accelerating and overtaking. If necessary, as wheel slip on the rear axle increases, its driving force is transferred to the front wheels. This occurs through the mechanical connection of the fully variable all-wheel drive AMG Performance 4MATIC+ via the shaft and front axle shafts. Positioning the unit close to the rear axle improves weight distribution and axle load.
Driving on electric power only
The battery has a capacity of 6.1 kWh and is charged using an on-board 3.7 kW alternating current (AC) charger - at a charging station, via a wall box or from a household outlet. The battery is designed to provide and consume energy quickly, rather than for the longest possible range, and is capable of a 13km all-electric range (EAER).
Like other SL variants, the hybrid version is available with numerous paint finishes and individual equipment options to choose from.
