The health of the auto industry is key information for the economy. In Poland, for example, industry accounts for 8%. GDP. A surprising source says he’s on the rise. This is DHL, a global logistics operator. The company simply analyzed its supplies.
As DHL reminds us, the automotive industry covers a wide range of companies. This includes: oil refining companies, manufacturers of tires and components from which cars are assembled: engines, electrical wiring, cables, plastic parts and many others. Such an extensive network proves that the automotive industry is extremely important not only from the point of view of individual companies, but above all from the point of view of the entire economy. It is one of its pillars, accounting for 8%. GDP and approximately 13.5 percent exports.
Let us remind you that Poland ranks 10th in the list of the largest exporters of components in the world with an export value of 12.3 billion US dollars. We are therefore an important automotive hub, including: due to the location of large automobile factories in our country, as well as new investments in electromobility. This area seems extremely promising. According to new forecasts, the sector’s share of national GDP will increase from the current level of 1.4%. to 5.7 percent of GDP by mid-century, which could lead to new problems both for manufacturing companies themselves and in the supply chain.
Although the auto industry has faced many challenges, and semiconductor availability has been a major issue in the past two years, the situation has now improved in many areas. A reason for optimism may be the data from PZPM and KPM, which show that in 9 months of 2023 Poland produced almost 35% more. more cars than in the same period last year. Growth was recorded for each category, and the largest was for the delivery of cars and trucks - almost 50%.
DHL Express, an international express air freight company, also reports growth in the auto industry. We provide services to vehicle manufacturers (both light and heavy duty) as well as auto parts manufacturers who directly supply factories or parts retailers.
DHL is now seeing increased demand for its services. He sees the biggest growth from 2022 in processing deliveries for auto manufacturers (15%) or parts manufacturers supplying directly to automakers (11%). However, the overall annual growth rate for auto industry shipments is 14%. DHL data shows that the largest markets for goods from Poland are Germany (accounting for more than 35 percent of exports), as well as France and the Czech Republic.
