On February 28, 2023, the postgraduate study “New Mobility” was officially opened at the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology. They are a response to the needs of a changing labor market.

Postgraduate education is addressed to management personnel and specialists of companies that form competencies in the field of sustainable transport and, in a broad sense, the electromobility sector, writes the Samara Institute for Automotive Market Research.

The launch of the New Mobility PhD program run by PSPA and the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology (SiMR PW) is the culmination of several years of preparatory work.

48 teachers are involved in the implementation of the program, including from the interdepartmental staff of the Warsaw University of Technology from the faculties of automotive and construction technology, electrical engineering, chemistry and transport, as well as 39 business sector practitioners. - The first classes in the “New Mobility” direction are already over. I had the great pleasure of teaching the first of thirty subjects to be taught over the course of two semesters. From the very beginning of the existence of the PSPA, education has always been a priority for us. We are involved in a number of projects aimed at raising awareness through the transfer of sound knowledge. The opening of a graduate school is the best example of this - says Maciej Mazur, Managing Director of PSPA.

Research concerns the approaching future

The opening of a postgraduate course is a response to incl. to the growing demand for electric vehicles, the transformation of the transport sector and the development of new mobility. In 2021, the number of newly registered electric vehicles in the world amounted to 6.6 million. For comparison, 351,000 units were sold in 2015. electric vehicles, and in 2010 - 7.3 thousand. According to the forecasts of the International Energy Agency (IEA), in 2030 more than one in three vehicles sold in the world will be equipped with a traction battery. The electrification of fleets is associated with huge changes in the entire automotive industry, including a very dynamic increase in the need for properly educated specialists. - Increasing knowledge in the field of electromobility is no longer just a curiosity, but the responsibility of people involved in fleet management. Well-established knowledge, backed up by practice and professional experience, is the best that the listener will receive - says Marek Andruchov, president of the Association of Fleet Managers.

Offer for conscientious professionals

“New Mobility” is a direction aimed at, for example, for: executives, specialists from companies and institutions who increase their competence in the area under consideration. A modern approach to the educational process will provide graduates with comprehensive knowledge, unique in the Polish labor market, related to electromobility, the electric vehicle market, charging infrastructure, the development of zero-emission technologies, including hydrogen, as well as all legal, social and economic issues that affect sustainable transport market. – Retraining and advanced training are currently two topics that dominate the discussions of automotive market experts. Anyone who decides to go in a new direction as soon as possible and get a valuable education that supports the transition to zero-emission transport seems to have all the cards up its sleeve in the context of the uncertainty in the labor market that we can expect in the coming years - says Alicia Pawlowska-Piorun from ING Bank Śląski, who teaches the subject “Electromobility for Climate and the Environment”.
