Head of the Center for Combating Corruption in State and Law Enforcement Agencies Nikolai Alekseenko believes that there are still those in society who dishonor the memory of soldiers, profit from the war and simply mock people. According to Alekseenko, the story of the Irpinsk deputy from the VO “Batkivshchyna” Alexander Pikulik confirms this.
“For unknown merits to anyone, Pikulik received an award weapon from the police of the Kyiv region. After that, journalists twice exposed him on the use of these weapons in public places while intoxicated. However, despite these facts and his detention by law enforcement officers, he was never held responsible,” the organization says in a letter.
In addition to the shooting incident, Pikulik is suspected of fraud, as a result of which more than 300 families were left without money and housing during the war.
Also, according to media reports, in December, Pikulik went abroad with the permission of the Kyiv regional military administration. However, upon a journalistic inquiry regarding the purpose of the trip and its results, KOVA noted that they did not have such information.
Consequently, it is up to the deputies to provide an appropriate legal assessment of the actions of Oleksandr Pikulyk and take appropriate measures.
“We ask you to initiate an audit of compliance with the current legislation on granting permission to travel outside Ukraine to Pikulik, as well as the circumstances and grounds for awarding him with firearms. At the same time, we ask you to pay attention and intervene in the situation around the Tsentralny residential complex in the city of Irpin in order to return money and property to their rightful owners,” – noted in the GPC.
It is worth recalling that Alexander Pikulik is a deputy of the Irpin City Council. He heads the commission of land relations, forest and environmental issues. According to his colleagues, Pikulik is not a frequent guest at meetings.
Recently, the head of the Batkivshchyna VO, Yulia Tymoshenko, announced that she intended to deprive Pikulik of his mandate because of the firing of award-winning weapons in a restaurant in Irpin.
