In Kyiv, which survived a massive attack by occupiers with drones and rockets at night, during a large-scale war, the authorities are not going to increase the cost of public transport. This was reported on the official portal of Kyiv.
“In the near future, while there is a large-scale war in Ukraine, the price of public transport in the capital will not increase. Yes, we have subsidized transport. Because the cost of travel is several times higher than the current cost. And the city allocates a lot of money to keep transport enterprises running. Because it is necessary to repair transport so that transportation is safe. We need to buy new rolling stock. But we understand how difficult the situation is today and how difficult it is for people. And therefore it was decided not to raise the prices for travel in the public transport of the capital. In addition, we are doing our best to help cities that have suffered more from Russian attacks and have lost most of their urban transport. We provided transport, for example, to the Dnieper, Kherson. Yes, we ourselves need these buses. But you need to help everyone and support.”- said the mayor of the capital Vitali Klitschko.
Earlier, the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration announced a possible increase in the fare, which caused Klitschko’s statement.
Where else is such cheap travel as in Kyiv? 6.50 UAH It’s time to think in the deputies and the public about raising fares. I will already say what is needed. How can we develop public transport if it is unprofitable today? It is 300% subsidized. In order for us to develop public transport, we need to raise tariffs.”- said the director of the department of transport infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration Ruslan Kandibor.
As FACTS wrote, in Kyiv it is now possible to pay for travel by card, and a new useful feature has appeared in Kyiv Digital.
