In Ukraine, the process of de-Russification of cities and villages continues. In this regard, several more streets and squares in the capital of our country have changed their name.
This was announced by the mayor Vitali Klitschko.
In particular, we are talking about Leo Tolstoy Square, which is now called the Ukrainian Heroes Square.
In addition, at today’s (March 23) meeting, the City Council renamed 14 more streets, lanes, avenues and boulevards, the names of which are associated with Russia and the Soviet past. New names for some of them:
-
Leo Tolstoy Street - Hetman Pavel Skoropadsky Street
-
Perov Boulevard - Voskresensky Avenue
-
Liberators Avenue - George Narbut Avenue
-
Yuri Gagarin Avenue - Leonid Kadenyuk Avenue
-
Marina Tsvetaeva street - Alexandra Exter street
-
Suzdalskaya street - Oleksy Gornyak street.
It should be noted that a total of 288 city objects have already been renamed in Kyiv.
Recall that in Kharkiv, as part of de-Russification, a monument to Pushkin was dismantled, and in Odessa, monuments to Catherine II and Alexander Suvorov were transferred to the museum.

I am currently working as a news website author at Daily News Hack. I mostly cover trending news and have been doing so for quite some time now. I have always had a keen interest in current affairs and the world around me, which is what led me to my current job.
I firmly believe that the best way to learn about something is by doing it yourself and that is why I love my job so much. It allows me to be constantly learning about new things and then sharing that knowledge with others.
I am also a big believer in the power of networking and building relationships. I think that LinkedIn is a great platform for connecting with like-minded people from all over the world.
