Employees of the SBU, who recently exposed an enemy agent in the Nikolaev region, detained a Russian saboteur of the main department of the general staff from the Russian Federation, who was trying to blow up one of the transport infrastructure facilities in Rivne.
“His main task was to carry out sabotage at one of the key objects of the transport system of the regional center. Thus, the aggressor hoped to disrupt the supply of foreign weapons to the Defense Forces on the eastern and southern fronts.- the message says.
The enemy agent arrived in Ukraine under the guise of a resident of one of the European countries on February 19. While crossing the state border, he used the passport of an EU citizen. In the Rivne region, a saboteur conducted reconnaissance near a strategic transport artery to determine the location of an explosive device.
The security forces recorded the exits of the saboteur to the area where he examined the object, and also observed the frequency of the passage of the rolling stock.
“His next“ step ”was to be the installation of explosives in the most“ vulnerable ”place of the indicated critical infrastructure object and the explosion. However, the SBU officers gradually documented the criminal actions of the foreigner and detained him in preparation for committing sabotage.”- added to the secret service.
According to the investigation, the detainee has a permanent residence permit in Russia and is part of the undercover apparatus of the Russian military intelligence. Since 2014, he has carried out hostile missions against the forces of the antiterrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. To do this, he joined the “stronghold” group, and then the so-called “khan battalion”.
After a full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the Russian occupation group “Kherson” and actively participated in the hostilities against Ukrainian troops in the Zaporozhye and Kherson directions.
He returned to Russia in September last year, where he received the task of conducting reconnaissance and subversive activities in the northwestern region of Ukraine.
Recall that the special service exposed the FSB agent network in Odessa, whose members had the task of reconnaissance of the locations of strategically important objects of the military-industrial complex of our state, and also corrected the enemy’s missile strikes in the region.
