I am currently working as a news website author at Daily News Hack. I mostly cover trending news and have been doing so for quite some time now. I have always had a keen interest in current affairs and the world around me, which is what led me to my current job. I firmly believe that the best way to learn about something is by doing it yourself and that is why I love my job so much. It allows me to be constantly learning about new things and then sharing that knowledge with others. I am also a big believer in the power of networking and building relationships. I think that LinkedIn is a great platform for connecting with like-minded people from all over the world.

The experts established the cause of death of 6-year-old Daniil Litenets and his 8-year-old friend Zhora Kovalev, whose bodies were discovered on December 8 at the bottom of the Ingulets quarry in the Dnipropetrovsk region. As it turned out, both boys died of hypothermia. The children lay about fifty meters apart from each other, and despite the rather cold weather, they did not have outerwear. 6-year-old Daniel was wearing a shirt and a light sweater. Zhora, who was lying face down on a slight rise, was only in trousers, a short-sleeved T-shirt, in a sports cap and … barefoot. There were no clothes next to the children.

How the boys got into the quarry is still a mystery. No work has been done here for a very long time. The quarry was fenced and guarded. Security guard who called himself Dmitryassured that the children could not sneak into the territory unnoticed.

Despite the fact that the cause of death of the guys has been established, there are still many mysteries in this case. Recall that Daniil and Zhora disappeared at the end of November. All possible forces were thrown in search of the boys. True, no one entered the protected area of the quarry. But the guards said that there simply could not be any of the outsiders on the territory.

As FACTS found out, 8-year-old Zhora Kovalev liked to wander around one city. A year ago, the police found him at the Ingulets bus station. Then an administrative protocol was drawn up for the boy’s parents. At the school where Zhora studied was told that after school he often got on a passenger bus and rode back and forth.

- Both Zhora and Danil could often be seen near the store, - told local resident Xenia. - For the most part, they either asked for change or asked to be bought candy. And once I myself saw how Zhora approached a man and asked for cigarettes. I was outraged. I say: “You are still small. You can’t smoke! And the boy answered: “Yes, I don’t smoke. Mom asked.”

Ksenia, who knows both families well, says the boys were not beaten. Although at home there were often quarrels.

- I know that Zhora and Danya were friends. They were often seen together. Once, 6-year-old Daniel even stayed overnight with his older friend. Then one day I asked Danya if he asked his mother for time off. The boy said that his mother didn’t mind.

The day before, there were no signs of trouble. Daniel went to first grade. He was in class the day before he disappeared. (The lower grades study full-time. Auth.). The children left the house, most likely after school. And they disappeared.

- The bodies of the boys were found only when work began in this part of the quarry, - says the guard Dmitry. - The workers found the children as soon as they went to work. How many boys spent time in their careers, I can’t say. My version is that it was dark, they were walking there and fell down. And they couldn’t get back. There is too much depth for such children. I remember that at the end of November it was very cold at night. It was up to 10 degrees. They would freeze in their clothes. And here it is not at all clear why they were undressed. I think they might be calling for help. But the place where the children fell into the quarry is at a sufficient distance from the post, and even at a depth. None of the guards who were on duty that day would have heard children’s voices. It’s a pity. But I still cannot understand how the children ended up on the territory of the protected facility.

Earlier, FACTS wrote that two teenagers who wanted to take a selfie on the edge of a cliff fell into a flooded quarry in Krivoy Rog.
