Together with the Ukrainians, Georgian citizens or natives of this country who have lived in Ukraine in recent years are also fighting at the front. So, in the summer of this year, Colonel Oleg Gegechkori, who was called one of the experienced pilots, died.
Unfortunately, it became known about new losses. “Georgian volunteers Auto Rurua, Roland Kvaratskhelia, Romeo Pichkhaya, Merab Aladashvili and Badri Markelia died on December 3 in the fight against Russian invaders near Bakhmut. Eternal memory and glory to the Heroes! - reported in the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia.
And the Novosti-Georgia publication reported that a group of Georgian fighters was surrounded near Bakhmut. Several soldiers were wounded, including the commander.
“We will definitely take them out. The situation in Bakhmut is very difficult… The commander is wounded. The rest of the guys, along with our Ukrainian brothers, are surrounded. There is a struggle to bring out the survivors and carry out the bodies of our dead.”volunteer Romeo Parulava said in an interview with Mtavari.
The publication writes that the first Georgian volunteer died on March 18, and according to data as of December 4, 33 Georgians were killed in battles on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Ukraine. Among them are citizens of Georgia and natives of Georgia, who had Ukrainian citizenship and lived in Ukraine in recent years.
By the way, the Ukrainian political scientist and blogger Kirill Sazonov, who is fighting in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported the day before that our soldiers, who were considered missing near Bakhmut on the morning of December 3, left the encirclement and made their way to their own. It is not yet known who exactly the fighter wrote about.
Recall that in Ukraine, under the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense, the International Legion was created, whose ranks were joined by citizens of other countries.
