Max Verstappen seems unstoppable this season in Formula 1. Shortly before the British Grand Prix, he surpassed his rivals, and at the same time decided to stick a short but sharp pin.
Shortly after the Austrian Grand Prix, Formula 1 drivers will compete in the UK at the famous Silverstone circuit. The main races are yet to come, so far the players have met each other in the first training session, in which the star of Max Verstappen shone brightest. Although the Dutchman had another small success, some words of criticism still escaped his lips.
Max Verstappen is the best ahead of the British Grand Prix
By far the best form this season, the rider knocked out other rivals. Interestingly, from the very beginning, things did not go very well for him. There were times when Charles Leclerc threatened him. At some point, the Monegasque even led the multiplication table, but then everything changed and, one might say, returned to normal.
As a result, Verstappen was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 1:28.600. Thus, he was faster than the second Sergio Perez by 0.448, and the third Alexander Albon by 0.489. The aforementioned Charles Leclerc finished fifth.
Bitter words of Max Verstappen
The Dutchman regained his advantage over the rest of the field participants by changing tires to softer ones. In general, however, he did not have the best opinion about tires today. “The grip got worse with every lap,” he said at the start of the first practice session. He then added that at times it seemed to him that he was driving on ice, and not on asphalt.
Who knows if such comments will soon play an important role in the revolution in Formula 1, which has been talked about for some time. That’s because the new tire supplier could be Bridgestone, which will replace Pirelli. Members of individual teams have already tacitly supported this - anonymously, of course.
