On the night of Sunday, May 21, in Las Vegas there will be a superfight for the title of absolute world champion in lightweight between the title holder, undefeated American Devin Haney (29 wins, 15 of them by knockout) and Ukrainian trophy contender Vasily Lomachenko (11 of them - by knockout, 2 defeats).
A few days before the megafight, the boxers held a press conference and had a duel of views. The rivals could not take their eyes off each other for a long time, so they had to “help” disperse – at the same time, there were no skirmishes and mutual insults.
Speaking to the press, Lomachenko noted how important the upcoming fight is for him. Also, of course, they touched upon the topic of the war in Ukraine - however, the boxer avoided a direct answer.
“Devin is really a very high level boxer, - said our compatriot. - He subtly understands our sport, realizes what he is capable of. He knows how to use his legs, he feels the distance well. However, I have a lot of experience in boxing. Therefore, this fight will be very interesting for me. Getting all the championship belts is my goal, my dream. The fight with Haney is first of all for God, secondly for my father and my family and, of course, for the sake of my country.
War in Ukraine? It’s hard to say anything because you can’t change anything. If you say or do something, it won’t change anything. I think only God can change things. So we just need to pray and ask him to stop this war.“.
