The Pole does not believe in Arina Sobolenko. Jerzy Janowicz explained what was her big problem

Must read

Iga Swiatek unexpectedly lost the WTA Madrid final, where she met with Arina Sabolenko. Jerzy Janovich, however, believes that in the near future it is the Pole who will achieve better results than the Belarusian. He said what the other lacks.

May 6 has become an important day in the sports calendar. On Saturday evening, two great tennis stars, Iga Swiatek and Arina Sobolenko, met. The match between them went, as usual, at a high level, but in the end, the trophy for the victory in WTA Madrid was not lifted by a Polish woman. The winner was a Belarusian, whom Jerzy Yanovich still considers a tennis player worse than Rashinyan. In an interview with sport.pl he explained his point of view.

Daring and uneven match between Iga Swiatek and Arina Sobolenko

Although the result does not say so, the struggle between the first and second rackets of the WTA rating was very even. Each of the sets ended with a 3-game advantage for one or another player, although in most of them it was necessary to make an effort to win him. However, unfortunately, this time Sobolenko was more productive, whose overall game could impress.

Yanovich somehow stood up for Byalo-Chervona, recalling that she is not a robot and also has the right to lose from time to time, to have a bad day. “This match by Iga was jerky and uneven,” he said.

What is Arina Sobolenko’s biggest problem?

Recently, the rivalry between Świątek and Sabalenka has developed into a unique, prestigious and extremely fierce rank. It is these two players that are always called the favorites and candidates for reaching the final. When asked about this topic, Janovic had no doubts. “I’m definitely more confident that Iga will stay at the highest level than that Sobolenko will continue to achieve such high results,” said Janovic.

The 33-year-old man explained his point of view in a little more detail. According to him, even with an average or poor game, the Polish player is able to overcome these problems and achieve good results. You rarely see this with a Belarusian girl, and if she doesn’t reach the required level from the very beginning of the match, then she gets into trouble. “There is no plan B,” he concluded.
