The 2022/23 World Cup is over, and the jumpers have learned the final overall standings. It was a really successful season for the Poles, although the best of them, David Kubacki, fell out of the top three at the last moment. Check where the rest of the jumpers are.
This year’s World Cup winner is Halvor Egner Granerud. His most serious rival in the fight for the Crystal Ball was David Kubacki, but, as you know, the Pole was forced to withdraw from the last competition for family reasons. Thomas Turnbichler can say that it was a really successful debut season as a coach of Polish ski jumpers. The final general classification of the completed campaign only confirms this.
Great finale of the 2022/23 ski jumping season
The final competitions in Planica gave us so many emotions that it is difficult to describe them. Timi Seitz became the winner, Anze Laniszek took the second place, and Stefan Kraft, the owner of the small Crystal Globe, closed the podium. The Poles did not lead, but Thomas Turnbichler was very proud of his achievements. Not surprising. Piotr Zhyla jumped 241.5m, Kamil Stoch reached four “20s” in the second round and Alexander Zniszol broke his personal best with a jump of 235.5m.
Halvor Egner Granerud became the owner of the Crystal Ball. Stefan Kraft and Anze Lanisek were also on the podium, followed by David Kubacki, who was awarded immediately after the end of the competition.
